Significant National Weather

South
Thunderstorms and rain is forecast over Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and into drought stricken parts of Texas. Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida.

Northeast
Showers are expected over northwest Pennsylvania and western and northern New York.

Midwest
Showers are expected over Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio with the possibility of thunderstorms across the far western sections of the Dakotas and Nebraska.

West
Thunderstorms are expected from southern Oregon to southern and eastern Montana, and could possibly occur in the Rockies, High Plains and Sierras. Temperatures are forecast from 100-110 degrees in the central valley of California, and 105 to 125 degrees in the desert southwest.

Red Rock Fire, Nevada

The Red Rock Fire located on the California-Nevada state line, approximately 25 miles northwest of Reno, NV, in Washoe County has burned approximately 10,000 acres, and as of 9 p.m. EDT July 18 was 40% contained; estimated containment date is July 20.
