Significant National Weather

Midwest: Heavy rain is possible over the lower Mississippi Valley this morning. Rain and thunderstorms expected today from the Dakotas, Minnesota and Wisconsin to parts of the mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valley. Some thunderstorms will be severe with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.
South. Thunderstorms are possible today from Kentucky and Tennessee into Georgia and the Carolinas. Portions of Texas and Oklahoma will see highs in the 90s and 100s. The lower Missisippi Valley and the Gulf Coast will see highs in the mid to upper 90s.
Northeast:  Some isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible from New England to the central Appalachians. The rest of the region will remain dry with temperatures cooler than average along the coast.
West:   Portions of the northern and central Rockies and Great Basin will see isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few showers are possible in portions of southern California. Another weather system coming down from the northwest will bring more shower and thunderstorm activity from the Pacific Northwest to the Rockies on Wednesday.

H1N1 Flu Outbreak - USA
The H1N1 Influenza Outbreak continues to grow in the United States. As of Monday, June 15, 2009, the CDC reported 17,855 (+7) confirmed and probable cases in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The CDC now reports 45 confirmed fatalities in the United States.

H1N1 Influenza Outbreak - International
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of Monday, June 15, 2009, there were 35,928 (+6,259) confirmed cases in 76 countries including 163 (+18) fatalities. Mexico has 6,241 confirmed cases and 108 fatalities.

Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic:
Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.

Eastern Pacific:
A poorly-organized area of disturbed weather located several hundred miles southwest of Acapulco, Mexico is moving slowly westward. Development of this system, if any, is expected to be slow to occur.  There is a low chance of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.

Western Pacific:
No activity.  (NOAA, HPC, National Hurricane Center, Central Pacific Hurricane Center and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center)
