West:
A winter storm will bring a foot or more of snow to the higher elevations of Idaho, Montana, western Wyoming and northern Utah. Rain is possible in southern Nevada, Arizona, and California.
Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect for much of the West for heavy snow; accumulations of 30 inches are possible in some mountain areas.
Wind Chill Warnings are in effect for northeastern Montana and eastern Wyoming due to wind chill values of 40 to 50 degrees below zero.
Midwest:
Much of the Midwest will experience sunny but cold weather today. Some areas off Lake Superior and Lake Michigan will see up to eight inches of lake-effect snow showers. Wind Chill Warnings and Advisories are in effect for portions of the Midwest for wind chill values of 30 to 40 degrees below zero.
Northeast:
Lake-effect snow squalls, strong winds and cold temperatures are forecast for portions of the Northeast. Areas down-wind of the Great Lakes could see up to 12 inches of snow. Winter Storm and Blizzard Warnings have been issued for much of the Northeast for heavy, blowing snow and severe winter weather conditions. Wind Chill Advisories are in effect for portions of Pennsylvania and New York for wind chill values of 10 to 20 degrees below zero.
South:
Sunny, cold weather is forecast for much of the South today. Some rain showers are expected across Texas and the southern Plains could see some rain. Flood Warnings remain in effect for several rivers in the South. Red Flag Warnings are in effect for southeast Alabama, southwest and south central Georgia, the eastern Florida Panhandle and Florida Big Bend for long durations of relative humidity below 25 percent. A Hard Freeze Warning is in effect tonight for inland southeast Mississippi and much of southwest and south central Alabama for sub-freezing temperatures.
