West:
Precipitation will be limited while the region remains under high pressure. A few rain showers are forecast over western Washington and northwest Oregon. Scattered rain showers and mountain snow is expected in parts of northern Idaho and western Montana. Red Flag Warnings are in affect for
Los Angeles and Ventura counties through Wednesday due to gusty winds and low humidity.
Midwest:
A fast moving low ("Alberta Clipper") along the Canadian border will produce light snow from central North Dakota to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
South:
A low pressure system moving across the East Coast will produce widespread precipitation. The heaviest precipitation, up to 3 inches, is expected from Mobile, AL to the southern Appalachian Mountains. Severe thunderstorms are forecast over southern Georgia, southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.
Northeast:
The northern portion of the same low pressure system that is soaking the Southeast will produce up to an inch of rain from West Virginia to southern New England. Over interior New York State and northern New England, rain will gradually change over to snow as colder air pushes in behind the storm. No significant accumulation is forecast. On Monday, December 8, Preliminary data indicates two possible tornadoes touched down in Grayson County, TX. There were no injuries or fatalities reported. However, 25 to 30 structures were damaged.
As indicated in the graphic to the right, on Tuesday, December 9, there were preliminary reports from the National Weather Service that indicated 10 tornadoes had touched down in Louisiana and Mississippi. There were 10 homes damaged and power lines reported down. There were no injuries or fatalities reported. No Federal Assistance requested (Region VI RRCC)

On Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 7:29 pm EST an earthquake measuring 3.6 struck 5 miles NW of San Bernardino, CA at a depth of 2 miles.
