Significant National Weather

Northeast 
A storm system moving in from the West will result in light snow over western New York and western Pennsylvania. Light snow may mix with light rain in West Virginia and southwest Virginia. Late Saturday, the Middle Atlantic region from Maryland and Delaware northward will see some light snow.

Midwest
A fast-moving storm (Alberta Clipper) will move across the Great Lakes Saturday. Two to three inches of snow may fall over parts of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes areas. It will be cold and windy over the Mississippi Valley and into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. Lake-effect snow will redevelop across northern Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, and then western Lower Michigan and northwest Indiana. Rain showers are forecast for the southern Ohio Valley.

South
Showers are possible in northern Tennessee later on Saturday; otherwise the rest of the South will be clear.

West
Light snow is forecast over the northern Rockies and the northern High Plains. Showers are possible in northwest Washington.  (NOAA, National Weather Service and Various Media Sources)

Tropical Weather Outlook

Western Pacific:
No current tropical cyclone warnings.(NOAA, HPC, National Hurricane Center, Central Pacific Hurricane Center and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center)

Earthquake Activity

The USGS reported a 5.1 magnitude earthquake (5.5 initially) at 11:18 p.m. EST, Friday, December 5, 16 miles WNW of Ludlow, California, 116 miles ENE of Los Angeles. Depth was 3.7 miles. Numerous aftershocks of 1.4 - 2.4 magnitude have also been reported in the vicinity. The moderate earthquake was felt across a large area of Southern California and Nevada from Las Vegas to San Diego; however, there were no reports of damage or injury.
