Maine Severe Storms

High winds and heavy rain struck coastal Maine Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, resulting in thousands of power outages and numerous roads blocked by downed trees and power lines. Hancock and Knox counties in south-central Maine were the hardest hit areas.

The Governor declared a State of Emergency for Maine on November 25, facilitating a waiver from the U.S. Department of Transportation to extend the hours of service for electrical workers and expediting response of mutual aid assistance from out of state. Power restoration crews from Massachusetts and New Brunswick, Canada have responded to help restore power for up to 43,000 customers. No Federal assistance or support has been requested or is anticipated.

Flood Warnings for several rivers in Maine are in effect until Thursday evening. (Region I)
