West
Showers, mountain snow and isolated thunderstorms are forecast today from the Pacific Northwest and northern California eastward to the northern Rockies.  Red Flag Warnings are in effect for most of Colorado and extreme southern Utah as a result of low humidity and increased wind.  A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for Colorado from Thursday morning through Thursday evening for strong winds and low relative humidity. Mississippi Valley Flooding

CURRENT SITUATION
Severe thunderstorms are moving across Illinois today, producing hail in some areas.  Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to continue in Illinois and move into Wisconsin and Michigan this afternoon and tonight bringing heavy rain, cloud-to-ground lightning, and the possibility of small hail; however, severe storms are not anticipated.  There have been no reports of injuries or damages.  Another round of moderate to heavy rainfall is expected the second half of this week.  This rainfall is expected to slow the rate of decline on rivers that have already crested.  Moderate Flood Stage exists on the Wisconsin River at Portage, WI and the Rock River at Newville, WI, Moline, IL and Rockton, IL.  Water levels are falling and forecast to move into Minor Flood Stage Wednesday through Thursday.  Most river gauges along the Mississippi River in Illinois are at Moderate Flood Stage and forecast to rise one-half to one-and-one-half feet through Thursday morning, April 24, 2008, then begin to fall.  (NOAA)
