Scattered thunderstorms are forecast from the Carolinas to east Texas and for Florida. Oklahoma, is forecast for thunderstorms and potentially flooding rain. Highs are forecast to reach the mid to upper 80s from Virginia to Oklahoma.
Northeast
Overnight lows are forecast to range from the 40s from Maine to northern Pennsylvania with the 50s elsewhere. Partly cloudy skies will warm only into the upper 60s in northern New England with the low to mid 70s across southern New England to western Pennsylvania.
Midwest
Southeast Kansas heavy rain with 5 inches to locally 10 inches over the next 24-36 hours. Scattered thunderstorms from North Dakota to northern Minnesota.
West
Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are forecast from Colorado to New Mexico and parts of Wyoming and Montana. Southern California, very dry air plus gusty winds are forecast. High temperatures are forecast for 90s across the Great Basin into New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. (NWS, Media Sources)
Missouri - A line of severe thunderstorms swept across Missouri beginning on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 and continuing. The heaviest precipitation fell in a corridor that stretched from Joplin and Kansas City on the west, to Hannibal and St. Louis on the east side of the state. Three (3) to five (5) inches of rain were received in this area causing rapid rises of numerous streams and rivers. Near record flood stages are now being forecast for some areas along the South Grand River and Big Creek basins southeast of Kansas City. A few people have evacuated their homes, and numerous roads have been closed. Rain remains in the forecast for the affected area through Saturday evening. In addition, severe weather is now a threat in southwest Missouri, as a tornado touched down in Polk County Saturday afternoon.
Kansas- Beginning June 26, 2007 and continuing, strong storms across south central and southeast Kansas have produced torrential rainfall and subsequent flooding/flash flooding in Anderson, Coffey, Cowley, Crawford, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson Counties. Up to 21 inches of rain has been reported near Fredonia, Kansas. As of Saturday morning, 16 ½ inches of rain had fallen in 48 hours at Moline, Kansas with 12 ½ inches in the last 24 hours. Nine inches of rain fell in four hours on Friday afternoon at Winfield, Kansas. Torrential rain and flooding are forecasted through Monday. (FEMA Region VII)
FMAG-2703-FM-UT was issued for the Neola Morris Wildfire, near Neola, Utah. The Fire has burned more than 14,000 acres on State and private land. 10 percent containment of fire. Estimated 300 mandatory evacuations from 105 threatened homes. The fire edge is within 2 miles of the homes. Another 150 homes in Dryfork Canyon, could be threatened in 12 - 24 hours. The Uintah Power Station, a Water Treatment Facility on Tribal lands, and a Girl Scout Camp are threatened. Six homes have been destroyed and three confirmed fatalities are being confirmed by the state. (FEMA HQ)
