West: Expect areas of heavy precipitation across northern California today as several inches of rain are likely in the lower elevations of the coastal mountains. Heavy snow will be moving southward from the Shasta and Siskiyou chains to the Sierra Nevada. Snow levels will be in the 2500- to 4000-foot range making travel over Siskiyou Summit on I-5 very difficult.

South: Much of the Southeast will be cloudy today with scattered areas of showers. Isolated thundershowers are also possible.
Midwest: Much of the Midwest will be dry and temperatures will be above average. Some light snow may develop later in the day across northern sections of North Dakota and Minnesota as low pressure approaches from Canada.
