National Weather Summary

South
Snow in the southern Appalachians and Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau.  Rain showers eastward into the Coastal Plain of North Carolina.  Generally sunny skies will dominate the remainder of the South.
High temperatures are to range from the 30s in northeastern Tennessee to the 70s over the southern tips of Texas and Florida. Elsewhere, readings in the 50s and 60s will be widespread.

West
Rain and snow showers will extend from northeastern Washington into northwestern Montana. Gusty winds in the Pacific Northwest, Montana and Wyoming.  Southern California gusty wind conditions could exacerbate the fire threat.  High temperatures are predicted to range from the 20s in Yellowstone National Park to the 70s in Southern California and southwest Arizona.

Northeast
Lake-effect snow from New York state southward through the Virginias.
Three to six inches of snow in the mountains of West Virginia.  Rain showers eastward toward the Mid-Atlantic coast. High temperatures are to range from the 30s in interior locations to the 50s in southeastern Virginia. 40s in Southern New England.

Midwest
Snow showers and flurries from northeastern Minnesota southeastward into Kentucky.
The Great Plains will be sunny and dry. High temperatures will range from the teens in northeastern North Dakota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the 40s in most of Kansas, southeast Nebraska and much of Missouri. (NWS, Media Sources)

Malibu (CA) Fire

In Malibu, CA, a fire fanned by Santa Ana winds spread over 20 acres and destroyed four homes and damaged two others before being contained.  No request for Federal assistance.  (FEMA Region IX, news media)

Earthquake Activity
