This page provides information and related links on what will qualify you for Disaster Assistance. You can also learn how to apply for assistance and about insurance and eligible expenses.
First, you must find out if your losses occurred in an area covered by a declaration for Individual Assistance.
Second, you must apply to FEMA in one of three ways:
- Online or from any web-enabled mobile device: DisasterAssistance.gov
- Smartphone: m.fema.gov
- Phone: 1-800-621-3362 or TTY: 1-800-462-7585
*Please note: If you have insurance, you must file a claim with your insurance company.
FEMA's Individuals and Households Program has two possible provisions: "Housing Needs" and "Other than Housing Needs." These provisions may be available to you if your property has been damaged or destroyed in a disaster declared for Individual Assistance, and your losses are not covered by insurance.
