MIDLOTHIAN, Va. -- In less than two weeks, more than $2.5 million in grants has been approved for individuals and households in Louisa County, officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) announced today. Grants approved for both Housing Assistance and Other Needs Assistance through Monday, November 14, total $2,549,630.

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. -- Public Assistance is now authorized for Louisa County, officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) announced. President Obama's November 4 declaration of a major disaster authorized Individual Assistance for residents of Louisa County who suffered earthquake-related losses. That declaration has now been amended to authorize Public Assistance as well.

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. -- Louisa County residents who had damage from the Aug. 23 earthquake or its aftershocks now can register for federal disaster assistance. "Registering is a critical step in putting your life back together after the earthquake," said Federal Coordinating Officer Don Keldsen of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. "Register even if you already reported your damage to your local emergency manager," said Virginia's State Coordinating Officer Michael Cline. "Registering with FEMA is the only way you'll be considered for federal disaster aid."

Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available to answer questions about low interest rate loans. WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to the Commonwealth of Virginia and ordered federal aid to supplement commonwealth and local recovery efforts in the area affected by an earthquake during the period of August 23 to October 25, 2011. The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Louisa County.
