CONCORD, N.H. -- The state of Maine and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that deadlines are approaching for local and county government agencies, school districts, and certain private nonprofit organizations to submit Requests for Public Assistance for damage caused by Tropical Storm Irene between Aug. 27 and Aug. 29, 2011.

CONCORD, N.H. -- Persistent rain in New England has renewed the threat of flooding as the area recovers from Tropical Storm Irene. It’s a reminder that now is the time to buy flood insurance. It takes 30 days after purchase for flood insurance to go into effect, so buying now is the best way to be sure that you are covered in case of future flooding in your home, whether or not there is a disaster declaration.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal aid has been made available to the State of Maine to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by Tropical Storm Irene during the period of August 27-29, 2011. Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by Tropical Storm Irene in Franklin, Oxford, and York Counties.
