ALBANY, N.Y. - State and federal officials have announced that another county is now eligible to receive disaster assistance designed to help affected local governments recover from the effects of recent flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee. Public Assistance (PA) is now available in Oneida County. FEMA’s public assistance program reimburses local governments, state agencies, and certain private non-profits for 75 percent of the approved costs. Work may include the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities including:

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Mitigation experts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be at the Pumpkin Festival in Chenango County this Friday and Saturday to offer information on preparing for future disasters, flood insurance and rebuilding safer and stronger. FEMA staff will have a display booth at the Pumpkin Festival, on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 11 North Broad St. (East & West Park), Norwich, N.Y. The booth will be located next to the court house on the West Park side.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Inspectors from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are meeting with survivors in New York State whose primary homes were damaged or destroyed by the flooding from Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee. Inspectors are private contractors who wear official FEMA identification badges. Authorized inspectors will only confirm personal detailed information that the applicant has provided previously during the registration process. They will usually not approach a survivor without prior telephone contact. What to Expect:
