ALBANY, N.Y. - Residents who are unemployed as a direct result of the recent flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee and who live or work in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Schenectady and Tioga counties may now be eligible for weekly benefit payments under the Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) program, state and federal officials announced today.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Cleaning up and making temporary repairs to your storm-damaged property will not disqualify you from federal disaster assistance, state and federal emergency management officials said today. Property owners are encouraged to document storm damage to their properties – either with photographs or video – and to then begin cleaning up and making whatever temporary repairs are necessary to make their homes safe and habitable again.

ALBANY, NY- State and federal officials have announced that Schenectady County is now eligible to receive disaster assistance designed to help affected individuals and local governments recover from the effects of the recent flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee. “The counties are added based on damage data gathered by federal, state and local officials,” said State Coordinating Officer Andrew X. Feeney. “We are committed to ensuring that every eligible family and business receives the help they need,” Feeney added.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- President Obama issued a Major Disaster Declaration on Tuesday for five counties in New York for damages incurred from Tropical Storm Lee. The declaration authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency to extend assistance under the Individuals and Households Assistance program. Homeowners, renters and businesses of any size affected by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee can now seek help from FEMA.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal aid has been made available to the State of New York and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee beginning on September 7, 2011, and continuing. The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in the counties of Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Tioga.
