The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is proud to be promoting National Severe Weather Preparedness Week from Sunday, April 22 to Saturday, April 28.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office contract set to expire tonight. The Sheriff's Office made an agreement with FEMA in December to use its officers as security guards for the staging area where FEMA Temporary Housing Units are being stored.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Federal disaster assistance to New York communities recovering from floods caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee is projected to top $1.3 billion, according to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and New York State officials. “These were huge storms which caused unprecedented damage to communities across the state,” said FEMA’s Federal Coordinating Officer Philip E. Parr. “FEMA continues to work aggressively to help these communities rebuild.”

ALBANY, N.Y. – Two state and federal Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will close Friday, November 18, at 7:00 p.m., officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said today. The centers, which are staffed with disaster-recovery specialists to provide information and guidance to homeowners, renters and businesses applying for assistance in recovering from damage and losses suffered from the tropical storms of late August, are the last two such facilities in operation in the state of New York.

Y.  – New Yorkers affected by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have only 30 more days to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for possible federal disaster assistance. It’s important that those who may need to register for aid do so as soon as possible. Registrations cannot be accepted after the December 15, 2011 deadline.

ALBANY, NY – To continue serving disaster survivors affected by the recent storms in New York, the Disaster Recovery Center currently operating in the Church of the Nazarene at 3732 Waverly Road in Owego, New York, will close Friday, Nov. 18, and transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) opening Monday, November 21. The DLOC will be open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is closed Saturday and Sunday.
