HARRISBURG, Pa. -- FEMA Hazard Mitigation Specialists are on hand at Lowe’s home improvement stores in Carlisle, Lancaster, Palmyra, Selinsgrove and York today through Monday to provide information about ways to rebuild or remodel that can reduce the risk of damages from future disasters.  They also are there to answer questions about FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program. Rebuilding or repairing a home after a disaster can be a daunting task – but, with the right information, homeowners can build back safer, smarter and stronger.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) plays a key role along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in helping individuals recover from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. In just one month after the storms devastated Pennsylvania, the NFIP paid $34 million in insurance claims for disaster losses. The NFIP does not wait for a full estimate of damages to begin to settle claims according to Rich Sobota, the NFIP representative in Pennsylvania.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) announced ten additional counties have been designated for Public Assistance for Tropical Storm Lee. President Obama issued a disaster declaration for the storm effective September 12, 2011.
