AUSTIN, Texas -- Just two months since the Sept. 9 disaster declaration for the Texas wildfires, assistance to survivors has reached nearly $26 million, recovery officials said Wednesday. Of the total, nearly $11.8 million is for state and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recovery grants.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texans affected by the wildfires that burned through many parts of the state starting Aug. 30 have just one month longer to register for assistance from the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The registration deadline is Dec. 8 for wildfire survivors in the 23 counties designated for Individual Assistance under the major disaster declaration. Dec. 8 is also the deadline to turn in applications for low- interest disaster loans with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

AUSTIN, Texas -- Wildfire survivors in Bastrop County have two more weeks to visit with state and federal specialists at the Disaster Recovery Center in their area. Although the center will close its doors at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, help is just a click or phone call away. Texans who were affected by the wildfires can still apply for federal assistance through Dec. 8.

The consultations will be available on a walk-in basis at home improvement stores in Longview starting Monday.

The consultations will be available on a walk-in basis at home improvement stores in Bee Cave starting Monday.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Federal disaster aid in the form of Public Assistance reimbursements has been approved in 12 more Texas counties affected by the wildfires of late summer, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said Thursday. Briscoe, Clay, Coryell, Edwards, Hall, Howard, Kimble, Menard, Montague, Nolan, Sutton and Wise counties join the 19 other counties approved for supplementary funding from FEMA under the latest amendment to the Sept. 9 major disaster declaration for the wildfires.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Bastrop will be closed Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend.  New operating hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.  In addition the center will be closed Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
