HARRISBURG, Pa. - Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Philadelphia, Sullivan, and Susquehanna counties will close on Friday, October 21, according to officials from the Pennsylvania and Federal Emergency Management Agencies (PEMA and FEMA). Even if they do not experience it themselves, seeing or hearing about what happened to a friend or classmate can be unsettling. Helping plan for their own family in case of a disaster can help kids overcome their fears.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) announced ten additional counties have been designated for Public Assistance for Tropical Storm Lee. President Obama issued a disaster declaration for the storm effective September 12, 2011.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- If you registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) because you were affected by Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee, you may receive an U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan application. Even if you do not want a loan it is important to complete it so FEMA and SBA can determine what you may be eligible for.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- FEMA hazard mitigation specialists are on hand this week at the Lowe’s home improvement store in Mechanicsburg to provide information about ways to rebuild or remodel that can reduce the risk of damages from future disasters.  They also will be there to answer questions about FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program. Rebuilding or repairing a home after a disaster can be a daunting task – but, with the right information, homeowners can build back safer, smarter and stronger.

The DRC, located at the Neshaminy Mall, Route 1 and Bristol Road, Bensalem, PA 19020, will close permanently at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 12.
