HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Certain private nonprofit organizations (PNPs) may be eligible for disaster assistance for losses suffered during Hurricane Irene and/or Tropical Storm Lee, announced the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The PNPs must meet certain federal and Commonwealth qualifiers to apply under the federal Public Assistance program.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Huntingdon County will close permanently on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. Until it closes, the DRC will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Help is available for individuals, groups, and communities in Pennsylvania through Project Keystone, a federally funded program to help disaster survivors who have emotional concerns.

To date, more than $276 million in federal grants, disaster loans and insurance payouts have been approved for those recovering from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, and that figure will rise as individuals continue to register for assistance.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvanians who suffered losses because of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have been approved for well over a quarter billion dollars in disaster relief, announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. The amount approved is $276 million in aid to the residents and business owners in the Commonwealth – and the figure will continue to climb with the deadline extended to give more individuals a chance to apply. The deadline to register for assistance has been extended to December 14, 2011.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- FEMA Hazard Mitigation Specialists are on hand at Lowe’s home improvement stores in Lansdale, Philadelphia, and Reading beginning Thursday, November 10, through 7 P.M. Monday, November 14. Mitigation Outreach teams will be available from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. to provide information about ways to rebuild or remodel that can reduce the risk of damages from future disasters.  They also are there to answer questions about FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The FEMA Hazard Mitigation Outreach teams currently providing storm-damage repair and rebuilding advice in Lancaster, Philadelphia, and Montgomery counties will continue doing so for another week. Originally scheduled through Monday, November 7, the teams’ stays have been extended in response to homeowner interest in information that helps them build back safer, smarter and stronger. They will be at the following Lowe’s from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, through Monday, November 14 (The teams are not at Lowe’s stores on Tuesdays):
