Editors: FEMA’s Oct. 12 News Release NR-052, “New Jersey Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster Relief,” serves as a sidebar to this release. NEPTUNE, N.J. -- Many New Jersey survivors of Hurricane Irene have serious disaster-related needs.  Groups known as Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) are stepping in to meet these needs and members of these groups expect to be assisting long after the emergency phase has passed.

NEPTUNE, N.J. — Families, individuals and businesses in New Jersey that suffered damage from Hurricane Irene have about three weeks remaining to register for federal assistance. The deadline for registering for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance is Oct. 31, 2011.

NEPTUNE, N.J. – Rumors about who should register for federal assistance may cause confusion for New Jersey survivors affected by Hurricane Irene. FEMA provides answers to common misconceptions. MYTH: I've already cleaned up and made the repairs. Isn’t it too late to register?FACT: You may be eligible for reimbursement of your clean up and repair expenses. MYTH: I'm a renter. I thought FEMA aid was only for homeowners to repair their homes.FACT: FEMA may provide assistance to help renters who lost personal property or were displaced.

NEPTUNE, N.J. — Officials at the FEMA/State Joint Field Office announced that the Disaster Recovery Centers in New Jersey will be closed for Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 10. They will re-open on Tuesday, Oct. 11 and resume normal hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Assistance is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. by calling the Helpline, 800-621-3362.
