NEPTUNE, N.J. – New Jersey residents whose homes and properties sustained damage in Hurricane Irene have until Nov. 30 to register for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Even if an insurance settlement has not been determined, individuals must register before the Nov. 30 deadline or face losing the opportunity to be considered for federal assistance. Though FEMA will not duplicate insurance benefits, expenses not covered by insurance may be eligible for federal grants after the claim has been paid.

NEPTUNE, N.J. – Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in four New Jersey counties battered by Hurricane Irene will close Wednesday, Nov. 16, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced. With fewer residents visiting the centers two months after the Aug. 31 disaster declaration, two centers, in Essex and Passaic counties, remain open. Their business hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.Residents should register before visiting a center. The registration deadline is Nov. 30. Find a DRC by ZIP code online at:  DRC Locator.

NEPTUNE, N.J. –The following is an update on federal disaster assistance for Hurricane Irene recovery through Nov. 8, said officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): • 46,387 registrations have been approved for assistance, averaging more than 680 households per day since the disaster declaration on Aug. 31. • More than $141 million in Housing Assistance for housing-related needs and repairs.
