ALBANY, N.Y. -- Last year, more than 1,000 deaths and more than 8,000 injuries were caused by tornadoes, floods, wildfires and other types of severe weather. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is proud to be promoting National Severe Weather Preparedness Week from Sunday, April 22 to Saturday, April 28.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office contract set to expire tonight. The Sheriff's Office made an agreement with FEMA in December to use its officers as security guards for the staging area where FEMA Temporary Housing Units are being stored.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Mitigation experts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be at “All the Trimmings Holiday Show” in Saratoga County this Friday, Saturday and Sunday to offer information on preparing for future disasters, flood insurance and rebuilding safer and stronger. FEMA staff will have a display booth at the “All the Trimmings Holiday Show,” from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Clifton Park Center, 22 Clifton Country Road, Clifton Park, N.Y. 12065.

ALBANY, N.Y. – A state and federal Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Circleville in Orange County on Tuesday, Nov. 15, for two days to serve those affected by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. The center will be set up in Circleville Fire Station No. 1 at 2147 State Route 302. Operating hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday. The DRC will close at 8 p.m. Nov. 16.
