RALEIGH, N.C. -- In the month since Hurricane Irene struck North Carolina, nearly $1 million a day in state and federal aid has made its way to help individuals and families recover from the storm. More than $29.9 million in disaster assistance has been approved to help speed recovery across the 35 counties designated for individual assistance in the disaster declaration. October 31 is the deadline to apply for disaster assistance.

The center is located at:The Old Vester Toyota Building900-C U.S. Highway 301 NorthWilson, N.C. 27893 The Wilson center will be open for four days -- Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- All North Carolina disaster recovery centers are now open Monday through Saturday. The centers are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to help survivors of Hurricane Irene. At the centers, representatives from North Carolina Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Small Business Administration and other agencies can explain assistance programs, help survivors apply for disaster aid and answer questions about the status of applications.
