SAN JUAN, PR -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Government of Puerto Rico officials announced today that additional municipalities are eligible under the presidential disaster declaration of August 27, 2011. The disaster declaration was granted due to the rains, flooding, mudslides, and landslides caused by Hurricane Irene.

WASHINGTON - Under the leadership of President Obama, the administration is continuing to bring all of its resources to bear to support affected states and territories that were impacted by Hurricane Irene.  On Sunday, President Obama will travel to Paterson, N.J., to view damage from Hurricane Irene and be briefed on response and recovery efforts.   The President's trip follows earlier visits by Department of Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate, and FEMA Deputy Administrator Rich Serin

SAN JUAN, PR -- A State/Federal Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Loíza tomorrow September 1, 2011, to support applicants which have already registered by phone or internet, for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Eligible individuals and families may apply for assistance by calling 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) or via internet at www.disasterassistance.gov, www.fema.gov or via mobile phone application m.fema.gov.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal aid has been made available to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to supplement commonwealth and local recovery efforts in the area struck by Hurricane Irene beginning on August 21, 2011, and continuing. The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in the municipalities of Caguas, Canóvanas, Carolina, Cayey, Loíza, Luquillo, and San Juan.
