SAN JUAN, PR --  Government of Puerto Rico and federal officials urged survivors unemployed as a direct result of the damages caused by Hurricane Irene in Adjuntas, Ciales and Guaynabo to apply for benefit payments under the Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) program, before October 31, 2011.

SAN JUAN, PR -- Puerto Rico residents who suffered losses caused by the heavy rains, flooding, landslides and mudslides left by Hurricane Irene have more time to apply for federal/state disaster recovery assistance. Officials of the Government of Puerto Rico and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that the period to register for assistance has been extended from October 26 to November 25, 2011.

SAN JUAN, PR -- The Government of Puerto Rico and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials announced that the State/Federal Disaster Recovery Center in Carolina will transition into a Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) on Monday, October 24, 2011. The DLOC will be open for one week in Carolina at the same location until Friday October 28, 2011. The DLOC operating hours will be from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. at the following location:

As of today, FEMA and the Government of Puerto Rico have disbursed $23.3 million in disaster assistance to help survivors affected by Hurricane Irene.
