COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Federal Emergency Management Agency officials urge flood survivors returning to their homes in northwest Missouri to consider carefully whether to repair or replace flood-damaged appliances and equipment. Deciding whether to repair or replace gas and electrical appliances damaged by dirty floodwaters can be difficult. Deciding to salvage or replace damaged equipment will be influenced by the length of time in the water, the level of the flooding and the amount of coverage allowed by the insurance and flood-relief programs.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Federal and state assistance to flood survivors in Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Holt, Lafayette and Platte counties has surpassed $1.5 million. As of close of business Sept. 18, $1,586,344 has been approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration to help disaster survivors recover.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency urge individuals and business owners in Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Holt, Lafayette and Platte counties who have received a disaster loan application from the SBA to complete and return the application by the Oct. 11, 2011, deadline. Applying for an SBA disaster loan is a critical step in the recovery process.
