LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- More Rita evacuees are eligible for aid after three more parishes were designated for individual assistance according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Individual assistance for Evangeline, Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes has been made available to help homeowners, renters and business owners recover from the effects of Hurricane Rita.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- More Rita evacuees are now eligible for assistance. The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that residents from six more parishes in Louisiana and 13 more counties in Texas are eligible for individual assistance from FEMA.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Evacuees who cannot return home for inspections can still have their homes inspected according to the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA-contracted inspectors will contact residents who apply for aid to set up an inspection date and time. If applicants can't be at home, they can identify an authorized agent who can be present during the inspection.

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. -- Individuals and families who evacuated to Arkansas after Hurricane Katrina need to register for disaster aid if they haven't already done so, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). "This is the critical first step to receiving FEMA disaster assistance," said Carlos Mitchell, federal coordinating officer for emergency operations in Arkansas.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Michael D. Brown, Department of Homeland Security’s Principal Federal Official for Hurricane Katrina response and head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today that federal disaster aid has been made available to New Mexico to supplement its efforts to assist evacuees from areas struck by Hurricane Katrina.
