NEWINGTON, N.H. -- Federal reimbursement to Massachusetts communities for costs associated with last winter’s record snowfall is now at $24,169,912, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials said today. With President Bush’s Feb. 17 declaration, all Massachusetts counties became eligible for federal funding to help reimburse state and local governments, and some private non-profit organizations, with costs associated with clean-up of the record-setting Jan. 22-23 snow storm.
NEWINGTON, N.H. -- The deadline to obtain federal assistance made available to reimburse state and local governments, and some private non-profit organizations for costs associated with clean-up of January’s record snowfall is fast approaching for Massachusetts counties. Counties made eligible for federal snow emergency assistance following the Jan. 22-23 record snow are being urged to return their documentation packets to the Disaster Recovery Department of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), 400 Worchester Road, Framingham, MA 01702, MEMA officials said.

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
