Portsmouth, Mass. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said today it would reimburse the Massachusetts Highway Department for snow removal costs from the record snowstorm of last December. The funds were made available through FEMA's Public Assistance program and administered by the Commonwealth.

Portsmouth, Mass. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said today it would reimburse the Massachusetts Port Authority for costs incurred as a direct result of the record snowstorm that struck the Commonwealth in early December. The $750,000 Public Assistance grant reimburses the Massachusetts Port Authority for snow removal costs incurred at eight locations in Middlesex and Suffolk counties. The federal payment represents 75 percent of eligible costs. The remaining 25 percent represents the non-federal share.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- More than $4.5 million has been obligated for reimbursement of snow removal costs incurred as a result of the record December snowfall in Massachusetts, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials said today. Under President Bush's January emergency declaration for the December 6-7 storm, communities in 12 of the Commonwealth's counties became eligible to apply for 75 percent funding of eligible emergency snow removal costs during a specified 48-hour period.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- More Maine counties have been added to the list eligible for financial emergency assistance for snow removal costs incurred during the December record snowfalls, the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced. Under Secretary Michael D. Brown, Department of Homeland Security , Emergency Preparedness and Response, said the additional assistance was approved based on a review by federal and state disaster recovery officials.
