Albany, NY -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that another $2.85 million has been obligated to the State of New York to reimburse communities and organizations for emergency protective measures undertaken as a result of severe snowstorms that blanketed the area on December 25-26, 2002 and January 3-4, 2003. FEMA has now approved 650 applications, totaling more than $11.3 million, since President George W. Bush signed an emergency declaration for 19 counties on February 25, 2003, at the request of Governor George Pataki.

Albany, NY -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that another $1.85 million has been obligated to the State of New York to reimburse communities and organizations for emergency protective measures undertaken as a result of severe snowstorms that blanketed the area on December 25-26, 2002 and January 3-4, 2003. FEMA has now approved 500 applications, totaling more than $8.5 million, since President George W. Bush signed an emergency declaration for 19 counties on February 25, 2003, at the request of Governor George Pataki.

Albany, NY -- Federal and state officials today announced additional assistance for Oneida and Broome counties to help them recover costs for emergency protective measures undertaken as a result of record and near-record snowfall that occurred on December 25-26, 2002. With the new designation, local governments and certain non-profit organizations in those two counties, already eligible to receive assistance for the Jan. 3-4 snowstorm, can now apply to recover costs incurred in the wake of the December storm.

Albany, NY -- Rennselaer and Tioga counties have been approved to receive federal and state assistance to help their local governments recover costs for emergency protective measures undertaken as a result of the record and near-record snowfall. Rensselaer County, and now Schoharie County, are eligible to apply for assistance from both the December 25-26, 2002 and January 3-4, 2003 storms. Schoharie County had already been designated to receive assistance in the wake of the December storm. Tioga County is eligible for assistance with expenses from the January storm.
