Washington, DC -- Federal disaster funds have been authorized for Vermont communities hit recently by record snowfall under an emergency declaration issued by President Bush, according to the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh said the President took the action after a review of the agency's analysis of the state's request for federal assistance. The declaration covers jurisdictions with record and near-record snowfall from the late winter storm that occurred March 5-7.
