Washington, DC -- Federal disaster funds have been made available for Massachusetts communities hit by record snowfall earlier this month, according to the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh said the assistance was authorized under an emergency declaration issued by President Bush after a review of the agency's analysis of the state's request for federal assistance. The declaration covers jurisdictions with record and near-record snowfall from the late winter storm that occurred March 5-7.
