Washington, DC -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made federal funds available to help New Mexico fight the uncontrolled Trap and Skeet Fire burning in the counties of Lincoln and Otero. The state's request for federal fire suppression aid was approved last night after learning that the fire was endangering between 50 and 75 homes in the subdivision of Camelot near the town of Ruidoso. The 450-acre fire, which broke out last Saturday, also was posing a threat to Ruidoso's main power line and substation at the time of the request.
