WASHINGTON, D.C. -- FEMA made federal funds available on July 3 to help Nevada battle a wildfire near Carson City. The wildfire, designated the "Mira Loma" fire, broke out on 5,000 acres and at its height, threatened 100 homes in Lockwood, Nev. and 300-350 homes in Highlands, Nev. Local officials indicated voluntary evacuations were in effect over the weekend. The fire was reported contained by Sunday, July 4. At least two structures were lost to before the fire was contained.
