PIERRE, S.D. -- Missouri River residents who have flood insurance now have an extra 30 days to file their claim and statement of loss for 2011 flooding, officials with the National Flood Insurance Program have announced. Owners whose buildings or property were initially damaged by Missouri River flooding on June 1 now have until October 29 to file their claims and their “proof of loss” (a statement of what was damaged by the flood). Those who first had damage on June 2 now have until October 30, and so forth.

PIERRE, S.D. -- There are just four weeks left to file claims for disaster aid with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), disaster officials announced today. The last day to file for aid with FEMA is October 24th. That is also the last day to return applications for disaster loans from the Small Business Administration (SBA). "There's still time to file your claim but the deadline is approaching quickly," said Federal Coordinating Officer Mark Neveau of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. "Don't wait until it's too late."

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. -- The Disaster Recovery Center in North Sioux City will close on Friday, September 30 at 7 p.m., officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the South Dakota Office of Emergency Management announced today. After the center closes, individuals with questions can contact the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 or TTY 800-462-7585 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CDT.

PIERRE, S.D. -- The deadline to file flood insurance claims could be as early as Thursday, September 29, disaster officials warn. Claims for flood damage in policies underwritten by the National Flood Insurance Program must be filed within 120 days of the actual damage occurring. The normal deadline is 60 days from the date of damage, but the deadline was extended to 120 days for the Missouri River floods. For buildings damaged by the rising water of the Missouri River on June 1, 2011, that deadline would be next Thursday.
