BISMARCK, N.D. -- Residents of Ward County can help determine the direction of their community's flood recovery at a Community Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 18, between 5 and 8 p.m. in Burlington. Meeting attendees will be able to help prioritize recovery projects identified during previous open houses. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) tabulated input from residents indicating the long-term projects most important to the area's future.

BISMARCK, N.D. – More than $349.3 million in federal and state disaster assistance has now been obligated to North Dakotans for this year’s spring flooding. The Burleigh Morton Disaster Recovery Center in Mandan permanently closed this week (Sept. 30), but the DRC in Minot remains open.

Bismarck, N.D. - Additional extensions have been granted for filing proofs of loss for National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policyholders in areas of North Dakota. FEMA granted an extension of the Standard Flood Insurance Policy (SFIP) 60-day deadline for sending a signed and sworn proof of loss to the insurer. This additional extension applies to all claims for NFIP-insured buildings and contents in four counties: Renville, Ward, McHenry and Bottineau. NFIP policyholders in these four Souris Valley counties now have until Friday, Oct.28, 2011.

Residents who need disaster related assistance can continue to contact FEMA by calling 800-621-3362 (TTY 800-462-7585 or 711-relay) between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. CDT daily or going online at www.fema.gov or www.disasterassistance.gov, or by smart phone or tablet at m.fema.gov.

BISMARCK, N.D. – The deadline for North Dakota residents with flood-related damage to register for disaster assistance has been extended by 60 days. The new deadline is Monday, Nov. 21. “The flooding in North Dakota was ongoing for nearly six months,” said Deanne Criswell, Federal Coordinating Officer for FEMA. “Only now are some individuals learning the true extent of their flood damages. We want everyone to have the opportunity to register for disaster assistance.” The 60-day extension applies to the following types of assistance:
