BISMARCK, N.D. -- Near the seven-month anniversary of the May 10 presidential declaration for North Dakota, state and federal officials report that more than $446 million in state and federal funds has been approved for North Dakotans in connection with spring and summer flooding.

BISMARCK, N.D. – Nearly five months after the Federal Emergency Management Agency began assisting North Dakotans with flood-damaged homes, more than 4,600 residents have moved into more than 1,550 temporary housing units provided through FEMA’s direct housing program. This is equivalent to housing everyone in a town the size of Grafton or the entire counties of Sargent or Sioux.

BISMARCK, N.D. - The last day for North Dakotans to register for federal disaster assistance is Monday, Nov. 21, and the last day of operation for the Disaster Recovery Center in Minot is Tuesday, Nov. 22. The last day for submitting applications for disaster loans to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is Monday, Nov. 21.

BISMARCK, N.D. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Minot will be closed Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12, for the Veterans Day weekend. It will reopen on Monday, Nov. 14. Regular hours of operation for the DRC are: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and closed on Sunday. The DRC is located in the Dakota Mall, 2400 10th Street SW, Minot, ND 58701.

BISMARCK, N.D. – FEMA recognized the outstanding success and collaboration among local, state and federal agencies with an Administrator’s Award for Innovation. Thanks to a new communications and cross-team strategy for managing search and rescue (SAR) efforts through a Response Operations Center (ROC), emergency responders found it easier to help residents caught in the turmoil of Red River Valley flooding this spring.

BISMARCK, N.D. -- Minot students got a firsthand lesson in teamwork, so often stressed in schools, when several groups collaborated to get them back in the classroom this fall. Thanks to a combined push from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Minot Public School District, contractor Kraus-Anderson and Innovative Modular Solutions, eight public and private schools impacted by the spring and summer flooding were able to start the school year with only minor delays.

BISMARCK, N.D. -- A total of $403.9 million in federal and state disaster assistance has now been obligated to North Dakotans for this year’s spring flooding, and thus far, 1,234 Temporary Housing Units (THUs) have been occupied on private and group sites by residents working toward permanent housing plans. By Oct. 30 close of business, 10,224 individuals in North Dakota had registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for disaster assistance.

During these meetings, residents had an opportunity to offer ideas and make suggestions about how they would like their communities to rebound from the recent floods.
