BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Disaster survivors who sustained storm and tornado damages between April 15 and May 31 have only 48 hours to register for federal disaster assistance.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency continues to offer free consultations with FEMA advisers at home improvement and hardware stores. They will have display tables at area stores from July 18 to July 23. The FEMA specialists will answer questions and offer home improvement tips and proven techniques to prevent and lessen damage from future disasters. Most of the information is geared toward do-it-yourself workers and building contractors, and is available in both English and Spanish.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tornado recovery officials are concerned that many Alabamians with April storm losses could miss out on valuable disaster recovery grants and low-interest disaster recovery loans by not returning completed applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration. The deadline to send in the SBA disaster loan application is Monday, July 18. The paperwork takes less than a half hour to complete.
