ATLANTA, Ga. -- Eight additional counties have been designated for disaster assistance to households and businesses as part of North Carolina's federal disaster declaration, according to officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  The latest counties are Craven, Currituck, Greene, Hertford, Hoke, Pitt, Robeson and Sampson. Counties previously designated are Bertie, Bladen, Cumberland, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Onslow, Wake and Wilson.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to North Carolina to supplement the state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding on April 16, 2011. The President's action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in the counties of Bertie, Bladen, Cumberland, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Onslow, Wake, and Wilson.
