Downers Grove, Ill. -- Federal disaster funds are now available for Green County to help local governments recover some of the costs associated with snow removal and emergency response to the blizzard that occurred in southern Wisconsin earlier this year. According to officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the assistance was approved following a review of data gathered by federal and state disaster assistance officials. The declaration is for the response and cleanup to the blizzard and major winter storm that occurred Jan. 31 - Feb. 3, 2011.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to the state of Wisconsin to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by a severe winter storm and snowstorm during the period of January 31 to February 3, 2011.
