THOMAS, V.I. -- As part of its Resolve to be Ready in 2011 campaign, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Virgin Island Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) officials visited several schools in the Territory delivering vital disaster preparedness information for the children.

ST THOMAS, USVI -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials urge flood insurance holders in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) who suffered damages caused by the recent rain events, to file claims through their insurance agent or company right away.

ST THOMAS, USVI -- Governmental and certain private nonprofit entities in the Territory affected by severe storms and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Otto that are eligible for federal assistance, must submit their Request for Public Assistance (RPA) forms to the Territorial Public Assistance Officer no later than December 6, 2010.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
