LAREDO, Texas -- Teams of hazard mitigation specialists with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are available at McCoy's Home Center in Rio Grande City. A team will be available through Saturday, Sept. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. From today, Wednesday, Sept.1, through Friday, Sept. 3, the team will be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Their aim is to provide information and answer questions residents may have about protecting their homes from future disaster damage as well as building or rebuilding their homes safer and stronger.

LAREDO, Texas -- State agencies, local jurisdictions and eligible nonprofit organizations in Calhoun County that suffered damage or loss as a result of Hurricane Alex and subsequent flooding now can register for federal assistance.? Public Assistance is being made available to Calhoun County after officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) reviewed damage assessments.

LAREDO, Texas -- Texans who suffered damages or losses from Hurricane Alex and received a loan application from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are urged to complete and return the application according to disaster officials of Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Doing so will ensure the applicants are considered for the full range of disaster assistance that may be available to them.  There is no cost to apply.

LAREDO, Texas – One week remains for Texas workers who are unemployed as a result of Hurricane Alex to apply for disaster unemployment benefits. Continued rain and flooding after Hurricane Alex have resulted in disaster unemployment assistance for workers in Cameron, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Maverick, Starr, Val Verde, Webb and Zapata counties. The filing deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 7.

LAREDO, Texas -- The Laredo Disaster Recovery Center will end operations at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4. The center, located at the City of Laredo Service Center, 5512 Thomas Ave., Laredo, Texas, will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday and on the last day of operation, Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Spanish speakers will be on hand to provide assistance to survivors.
