WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Survivors of the summer floods who have registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency have easy access to a toll-free Helpline that can answer many of their questions. To access the Helpline, call the registration number, 800-621-FEMA (3362); select language, enter a ZIP code, and then select option “2” for the Helpline. Callers should have their disaster registration and Social Security numbers available.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- The federal/state disaster recovery center in Cherokee will transition to a Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) later this week, announced Joseph Folsom, district director of the SBA’s Iowa district office. The center in Cherokee County will transition to a DLOC at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010. Located at the Cherokee City Parks and Recreation Department Community Center, 530 West Bluff Street, Cherokee, IA, hours will be Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- A federal/state Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Appanoose County Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at 9 a.m. to assist individuals, households and businesses affected by Iowa's recent storms and flooding. The DRC will be located at the 312 E. Maple St., Centerville, IA  52504. The hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday until further notice. The center will operate until 5 p.m. Oct. 16, 2010.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) announce that the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Black Hawk County will end operations at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010. Assistance is still available through the FEMA toll-free telephone number 800-621-FEMA (3362), seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., local time, and at any existing DRC. Registration is also available online 24/7 at www.disasterassistance.gov.
