WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- State and federal officials have announced the Hamilton County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at 500 Fairmeadow Drive in Webster City will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18.  After Sept.18, those affected by the disaster, including Hamilton county residents, may visit any DRC at the following locations until further notice:

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowans affected by the storms beginning June 1, who have already registered for assistance with local, county, state or voluntary agencies are reminded that they must register with FEMA to be considered for federal assistance. Registering with FEMA is a required step in the process, whether the loss is large or small, and whether or not an individual anticipates federal assistance. “The sooner people register, the sooner we will be able to help those eligible,” said Federal Coordinating Officer Dennis Moffett.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- A federal/state Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Story County will open Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 9 a.m. to assist individuals, households and businesses affected by Iowa's recent storms and flooding. The DRC will be located at 1615 Golden Aspen Drive, Suite 108, Ames, IA, 50010. The hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until further notice.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Telephone registration and Disaster Recovery Centers will be open Labor Day weekend, according to state and federal officials. For residents and business owners in the 32 Iowa counties included in the recent disaster declaration, registering with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the first step in the process of qualifying for assistance, whether the loss is large or small.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will open this weekend and hours are being expanded to offer assistance to survivors of the severe storms and flooding that began June 1. The centers are operated jointly by the Iowa Homeland Security & Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
