BEAVER, W. Va. -- Homeowners, renters and business owners in the four West Virginia counties who suffered losses in the June severe storms, flooding, mudslides, and landslides can begin the process of applying for federal and state disaster assistance online or by phone. “If you called your county emergency manager or the American Red Cross for help, you have not registered for federal and state disaster assistance,” said State Coordinating Officer Jimmy Gianato.  “You have to register with FEMA.”

BEAVER, W. Va. -- A new Logan County Disaster Recovery Center will open on Thursday, July 1 at Logan High School to assist West Virginians who suffered damages and loss as a result of the severe storms and flooding beginning on June 12. President Obama’s major disaster declaration authorized FEMA’s Individual Assistance program in four counties: Logan, McDowell, Mingo, and Wyoming. The center, operated by the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (WVDHSEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is at the following location:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Craig Fugate announced today a major disaster exists in the State of West Virginia and ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe storms, flooding, mudslides, and landslides beginning on June 12, 2010, and continuing. The President's action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in Logan, McDowell, Mingo, and Wyoming Counties.
