CLINTON, Miss. -- Today is the last day for survivors of the April 23-24 Mississippi tornadoes and severe storms to register for state and federal assistance. People in eight disaster-affected counties can register by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired. Phone lines are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and help is available in all languages. Online registrations can be submitted to www.disasterassistance.gov.

CLINTON, Miss. -- Mississippians who are repairing or rebuilding after recent severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding are facing many choices – and opportunities – regarding how they put the pieces of their homes and lives back together. Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency officials are hoping that some of those choices will include proven techniques that can help reduce or prevent future storm damage.
