WALLINGFORD, Conn.  –- Connecticut households have received more than $2.3 million in federal disaster aid since President Obama authorized Individual Assistance on May 28. The disaster declaration came as a result of severe storms and flooding March 12-May 17. As of Monday, June 14, the figures were:

WALLINGFORD, Conn. -- Federal dollars are available to help Connecticut homeowners after March storm damage with loans of up to $20,000 with a 1 percent interest rate through the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Housing Programs. Grants up to $7,500 could help certain seniors with repairs.

WALLINGFORD, Conn. -- If you are one of more than 1,840 Connecticut residents who have registered for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) you may know someone - a family member or a neighbor - who has not applied for help. Officials want to make sure no one is overlooked and every eligible resident gets help, which is why they have started the "Tell Your Neighbor" campaign.

WALLINGFORD, Conn. -- Free legal help is available to Connecticut residents affected by the severe storms and flooding March 12 – May 17. Residents can request free legal assistance by calling 877-342-2331. The hot line, operated by the Connecticut Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday and offers assistance in Spanish as well as English. When the line is not staffed, callers can leave a message with their name, phone number and address.

In fact, most SBA disaster loans go to individuals and families; interest for homeowners and renters is as low as 2.625 percent.
