Wallingford, Conn. – Homeowners, renters, and business owners with expenses resulting from this spring’s severe storms and flooding have just one week to apply for disaster assistance. State and federal officials are urging people to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) before the registration deadline of Tuesday, July 27.  That is also the deadline to return loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

WALLINGFORD, Conn. – If you registered for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and received a letter stating you are not eligible, state and federal recovery officials have one important message – don’t give up. “The letter might mean that FEMA doesn’t have all the information it needs to make decisions about the application,” said Mike Parker, federal coordinating officer for the disaster recovery. “It’s important to take the time to carefully read the information and instructions in the letter.”

WALLINGFORD, Conn. -- If the severe storms and flooding in parts of Connecticut from March 12 to May 17 affected your ability to work, you may be eligible for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA). The last day to apply for DUA is Thursday, July 1.  In order to qualify, you must have worked or lived in one of the designated counties – Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham – and you must not be eligible for regular unemployment.

WALLINGFORD, Conn. -- Disaster Recovery Centers in Groton, Norwich, and Norwalk will close July 1, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said today. The centers, which opened in early June, help individuals, households and businesses affected by the severe storms and flooding that struck Connecticut this spring. FEMA, the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are staffing the centers with specialists who can provide information and assistance for survivors.

WALLINGFORD, Conn. -- U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) will be open in Groton, Norwich and Norwalk from July 6-9.   At the DLOCs, SBA representatives will be available to meet with residents and business owners to answer questions about the SBA disaster loan program, help complete disaster loan applications, accept completed applications and complete loan closings.
