NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- The shock is over, but the work continues. As communities, neighborhoods and individuals absorb the repercussions of recent disasters and put forth a tremendous amount of effort to repair, rebuild and recover, the opportunity remains to harness that energy and not lose recovery momentum. This is the major reason the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) puts a high priority on developing long-term recovery groups comprised of volunteer organizations in hard-hit disaster communities.

ANDOVER, Mass. -- The Disaster Recovery Center in Lakeville, which has served more than 1,250 Southeastern Massachusetts residents during its eight weeks of operations, will transition to a more specialized U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) as of June 7, 2010. The SBA outreach center will remain at the same location with the same operating hours: the Free Public Library, 4 Precinct Street in Lakeville, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, until further notice.

ANDOVER, Mass. -- There are a lot of "how-to" questions that come with reducing future disaster risks. Not sure how high to elevate that furnace, how to purchase flood insurance or what to include in your disaster preparedness kit? Help is not far away. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) community education and outreach advisors will be on-hand at local Home Depot stores through June 8 to provide useful information about many areas of concern, including:

ANDOVER, Mass. -- The State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Hyde Park Municipal Bldg., 1179 River St. in Boston will transition to a more specialized U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) outreach center beginning Tuesday, June 1, 2010. The current DRC ceases operation today, Friday May 28 at 6 p.m. and will be closed through the Memorial Day weekend. As of June 1, hours of operation for the SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) will be 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday – Friday, until further notice.
